The Client
Karla Boyungs, a local designer from Dixon, has provided design services to the Sauk Valley and surrounding area for over seventeen years. With a Bachelor of Arts in Interiors from Truman State University, Karla blends contemporary and classic styles with bold and subtle elements to transform homes and businesses into unique, functional spaces. When it came time to renovate her own kitchen, she turned to Sterling Woodworks for a complete transformation.
The Challenge
Karla’s original galley kitchen was outdated, inefficient, and lacked both charm and storage. The challenge was to gut the space completely and rebuild it with custom cabinetry that could handle the odd angles of her historic home, all while making the room feel open and inviting.
The Solution
Sterling Woodworks redesigned the kitchen from the ground up, installing fully custom cabinetry with integrated accessories that maximized storage and usability. Neutral selections were chosen to create the illusion of more space, while a quartz countertop and a dream garden sill added both luxury and personality. The new design elevated the kitchen from cramped to elegant, blending everyday function with timeless style.
